For many years Americans have been asking their government to revise the TAX CODE to make it simpler, fairer and above all, affordable. They haven't done that. Mr. Warren Buffett's new venture should awaken us to this unfinished task.
Those who have chosen taxation, rather than free-market capitalism, as a source of great wealth and a way to make a good living - the liberals - always have several excuses to keep the taxes going up and never have a cut in taxes. One such excuse is that if the government lose tax from one source that has to be made up from another, usually the overtaxed American taxpayer.
Let us apply this excuse to send a message to Mr. Buffett, who is going to escape taxation and give away billions of dollars earned right here in America, to fight disease and poverty across the globe. That is commendable, and we Americans have been pouring billions of dollars for the same purpose for many years but poverty and diseases are still rising. We call it foreign aid. Last year Americans spent 268 billion dollars in charities.
As Mr.Buffett knows, charity begins at home. And as Paul Harvey said in his Saturday (July 8th) broadcast, there are places in America, like Detroit, where he could spend a few billions and help us - those of us who are less fortunate and lose thousands of dollars in taxes every year as we have no escape from the tax code as it is written today. Can you do that Mr.philanthropist?
The time has come to revise the TAX CODE, which is the Bible of liberals, so that Warren Buffett will have to pay a fair share in taxes before he takes his money and run for international acclamation.
